150 years of Alice in Wonderland

Happy Birthday, Alice!

Alice in Wonderland is 150 years old this year. Lewis Carroll’s classic tale has inspired a plethora of beloved iterations since its first publication.  Our event partners invite you to tumble down the rabbit hole again, with a special programme of anniversary events during London Book & Screen Week.

Alice’s Adventures Underground

Blending storytelling, live music, puppetry, circus and spectacle in over 20 individual rooms, an original soundtrack, and three bars, (including a VIP bar for premium ticket holders) you can expect the unexpected but prepare to be entertained – and maybe a bit freaked out too. Let’s be reasonable – it wouldn’t be wonderland if (direct quote from the lady herself) it didn’t get ‘curiouser and curiouser.’

The Story of Alice: Spoken Word at King’s Place

To celebrate the 150th anniversary of the first publication of Alice in WonderlandRobert Douglas-Fairhurst talks to Martha Kearney about his definitive biography of Lewis Carroll and Alice Liddell.

Douglas-Fairhust traces the lives of Lewis Carroll and Alice Liddell, and the richly various afterlife of the story that would forever link their names.
