Exposing Data Bias in a World Designed for Men: Caroline Criado Perez & Lynn Enright

Wed 13 February @ 6:30 am

Can you imagine a world where:

your mobile phone is too big for your hand?
your doctor prescribes a drug that is wrong for your body?
if you have a car accident you are 47% more likely be seriously injured than your partner?
every week the countless hours of work you do are recognised or values?

If you don’t need to imagine any of them, chances are you’re women.

Award-winning campaigner and writer Caroline Criado Perez will discuss her new book Invisible Women with journalist and author of Vagina: A Re-education Lynn Enright. She will show how, in a world largely built for and by men, we are systematically ignoring half the population. She exposes the gender data gap – a gap in our knowledge that is at the root of perpetual, systemic discrimination against women, and that has created a pervasive but invisible bias with a profound effect on women’s lives.

Tickets are £10/8 (students/Waterstones cardholders) and include a glass of wine or soft drink
