The Story Sessions

15 March, 2017 @ 7:00 pm - 9:00 pm

Free

The Story Sessions is like a folk club, but with themed spoken word. Our March theme is Retelling Tales: so myth, legend, fairytales, folklore, urban myth, done over and made new.

Headlining authors and poets read to the audience, who join in with ‘Flash from the floor’: 100 words of fiction or poetry, written specially, happening to fit the theme, or scribbled in the interval.

Testbed session: just before the interval a chosen author gets the an opportunity to try out a brand new piece on an audience and maybe get some feedback.

Retelling Tales headliner is Jennifer A McGowan whose new collection With Paper for Feet is just published by Arachne Press.

 Liam Hogan I, Igor (Story)

Math Jones: Frejya (poem)

Zoe Brigley: Letter to Leda on Getting Married and My Last Rochester (poems)

LMA Bauman-Milner Glass & Blood (Story)

Neil Slevin A Gaelic Chieftan (poem)

Joy Howard: Melangell and the Hare, Olympus Inc, Living to Tell the Tale (Poems)

Actor/Musician in residence, Annalie Wilson, will read for the shy or geographically distant and sing on-theme songs.

Music, book sales, some silliness, lots of words.
