The Unexpected Love Objects of Dunya Noor – an evening with Rana Haddad

13 March, 2019 @ 7:00 pm

Join us for an evening with Rana Haddad, author of The Unexpected Love Objects of Dunya Noor:

Taking place in 1970-90s Syria, from the point of view of a curly haired anti-establishment girl who does all the things a girl like her is not supposed to do. A tale about finding truth and freedom in a world that tries to deny it. A rebellious photographer, a romantic astronomy student, a tantalising singer and a snobbish but highly strung heart surgeon, a miserable and mysterious tailor and seamstress, and a dynastic family of bakers all feature in this unusual novel about love and breaking the rules.

Rana will be talking about her work, reading from the book, and answering your questionsJoining Rana will be Lina Shahen, member of the renowned Orchestra of Syrian Musicians, who will sing two evocative Arabic songs.
